THE ART OF SENSING

Intuition • Body Awareness • Energy • Perception

WHAT IF YOU COULD FEEL MORE THAN YOU SEE?

Explore the intersection of ancient martial arts, meditation, movement and human perception.

What if you could become more aware of the subtle signals happening inside your body, between people, and within your environment?

The Art of Sensing is an immersive experience combining martial arts, meditation, breathwork, partner sensitivity drills, movement, water, and guided perception exercises to help you develop a deeper awareness of yourself and the world around you.

Inspired by the philosophies of Bruce Lee, Miyamoto Musashi, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, and traditional mind-body practices, this experience explores one powerful idea:

The more you can sense, the less you have to force.

FEEL BEFORE YOU MOVE

Modern life teaches us to think constantly.

This workshop gives you an opportunity to slow down and feel.

You will explore:

  • Body awareness

  • Intuition and perception

  • Breath and meditation

  • Partner sensitivity

  • Push/pull energy drills

  • Centerline and alignment

  • Forward pressure

  • Relaxation and efficiency

  • Internal observation

  • Environmental awareness

  • Decision-making through sensory cues

  • Movement with less unnecessary effort

The goal isn't simply to learn another technique.

It's to learn how to listen to your body.

THE BRUCE LEE CONNECTION

Bruce Lee's philosophy of martial arts went far beyond fighting.

His famous concept of being like water represents adaptability, responsiveness, and freedom from unnecessary tension.

Instead of meeting force with force, you learn to:

Receive → Sense → Adapt → Respond

This workshop takes that philosophy into a broader mind-body experience.

Through Wing Chun's Chi Sao sensitivity drills, Jeet Kune Do movement principles, Tai Chi-inspired exercises, breathing, meditation, and partner work, you'll discover how much information your body can perceive when you stop trying to control everything.

Learn to do less — while accomplishing more.

THE EXPERIENCE

FIRST SESSION

Approximately 4 hours

Saturday 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Free-flow Pau Hana to follow.

Day 1: Sensitivity, Structure & Sensing

We’ll begin by using Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun to develop sensitivity, awareness, and efficient movement through hands-on partner training.

Siu Nim Tao & The Foundation

We’ll start with the Siu Nim Tao form, learning the fundamental movements, structure, positioning, and breathing of the set. From there, we’ll take the movements out of the form and into practical partner exercises.

Chi Sao & Sensitivity Training

Through Chi Sao (sticky hands) and progressive pushing-and-pulling exercises, you’ll learn to feel subtle changes in your partner’s weight, balance, structure, pressure, and direction of force.

Rather than meeting force with force, you’ll practice sensing when your partner is pushing or pulling and responding with minimal effort—neutralizing, redirecting, or complementing their movement through timing, positioning, and sensitivity.

The goal is to develop the ability to feel before you react.

As the exercises become more dynamic, you’ll begin to rely less on visual information and more on tactile awareness, allowing your body to recognize shifts in balance and intention almost instinctively.

This training develops more than martial technique. It brings your awareness, sensitivity, and perception to another level, creating a foundation for the deeper sensing and intuitive work explored throughout the workshop.

SECOND SESSION

Approximately 3 hours

Sunday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Day 2: Distance Communication & Intuition Lab

On Day 2, we’ll take the practice deeper into non-contact sensing, intuitive perception, focused attention, and the exploration of subtle influence.

Distance Movement & Communication Experiment

We’ll begin with a simple experiment using a small piece of foil balanced on a pin. The objective is to explore whether focused attention, heightened awareness, and subtle changes in our interaction with the environment can produce observable movement without intentionally touching the object.

As we progress, we’ll introduce different challenges—including placing the foil under a glass barrier and increasing the distance between you and the object.

Rather than asking you to simply believe that something is possible, you’ll have the opportunity to test it for yourself. We’ll experiment, observe what happens, and consider the different factors that may influence the result.

Everyone will experience the exercise differently. The goal isn't to prove or disprove a particular explanation, but to develop greater concentration, awareness, and curiosity about what you can perceive and influence.

Intuition & Perception Lab

From non-contact experiments, we’ll shift our attention toward intuition, subtle sensory awareness, and interpersonal perception.

Through partner exercises, intuition games, and perception challenges, you’ll practice distinguishing signal from noise—learning to notice subtle information, recognize intuitive impressions, and become more aware of how your mind and body process information.

The goal isn't simply to “guess correctly.” It’s to learn how to quiet the analytical mind, observe subtle impressions, recognize patterns, and become more aware of your own perception.

This is an experiential laboratory: practice, observe, test, question, refine, and discover what you’re capable of.

You don't have to believe in anything beforehand. Come with an open mind, experiment for yourself, and draw your own conclusions.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE

01 — ARRIVE & RESET

We begin by slowing the nervous system down.

Through breathing, meditation and simple awareness exercises, you'll learn to shift your attention away from the outside world and begin observing what's happening internally.

You'll be guided to notice:

Breath • Tension • Temperature • Balance • Pressure • Movement • Sensation

02 — AWAKEN YOUR SENSITIVITY

You'll begin with simple exercises designed to develop sensory awareness.

Partner exercises introduce:

  • Push and pull

  • Pressure

  • Balance

  • Center alignment

  • Forward intention

  • Relaxation

  • Touch sensitivity

  • Movement detection

You'll begin discovering how much information you can receive without relying entirely on your eyes.

03 — ENERGY & MARTIAL ARTS

Experience introductory sensitivity drills inspired by:

Jeet Kune Do
Wing Chun
Tai Chi
Indonesian martial arts
Traditional movement practices

You'll explore how martial artists use structure, timing, relaxation and sensitivity to respond efficiently rather than relying on brute strength.

One of the central questions:

Can you feel the movement before you see it?

THE INTUITION LAB

This is where things get interesting.

You'll participate in a series of perception games and guided exercises designed to challenge your normal assumptions about how you receive information.

Examples may include:

Object sensing
Can you identify characteristics of an object without immediately looking at it?

Color perception exercises
Can you develop awareness of subtle sensory cues while attempting to identify a hidden color?

Target exercises
Can you maintain focused attention toward a target while observing what your body is experiencing?

Partner perception games
Can you detect changes in pressure, movement or intention through touch and body positioning?

Some participants may experience these exercises simply as games.

Others may experience moments that are difficult to immediately explain.

We don't tell you what you're supposed to experience.

You experience it for yourself.

THE WATER TOOLS THE MIND

A major theme of the experience is learning from water.

Water doesn't fight.

Water responds.

Water adapts.

Water finds the path of least resistance.

This becomes a metaphor for both martial arts and life.

Instead of constantly asking:

"How do I force this to happen?"

we begin asking:

"What is already happening — and how can I respond?"

This principle can be applied to:

Movement
Business
Relationships
Creativity
Leadership
Decision-making
Personal development

FROM MARTIAL ARTS TO LIFE

The skills you develop aren't limited to the training space.

Greater body awareness can help you recognize:

  • When you're becoming tense

  • When something feels physically uncomfortable

  • When you're rushing a decision

  • When you're overthinking

  • When you're forcing an outcome

  • When your attention is drifting

  • When you need to slow down

  • When you're ready to act

Awareness creates options.

And more options create better decisions.

Maximize Your Perception

MEDITATION + MOVEMENT

We'll combine stillness and movement.

You'll experience periods of:

Sitting meditation
Breathing exercises
Slow movement
Partner drills
Dynamic movement
Focused perception games

The contrast is intentional.

You learn to sense while still.

Then you learn to sense while moving.

Then you learn to maintain awareness while interacting with another person.

AN EXPERIENCE — NOT A LECTURE

You won't spend the day sitting in a classroom listening to someone tell you what energy or intuition is.

You'll actually do the exercises.

You'll move.

You'll breathe.

You'll touch.

You'll observe.

You'll test your perception.

You'll work with partners.

You'll spend time in nature.

And you'll have opportunities to discover something through direct experience.
